An Enthralling Weekend
This weekend was too much fun. So much so, that I had to sleep through the entire Monday morning to re-energise myself! What was all the fuss about you ask? Well, it was the first speck of normalcy I experienced in months. It was the first Formula 1 race of 2020 this weekend! Yahoo!
Obviously, you may gasp thinking about everything that's going on in the world right now. And though I say that it was the first touch of normalcy; it wasn't exactly the same race week as what we have had in the past few years. Not nearly the same-- no, no, no. As you can probably guess, everything was conducted keeping stringent safety measures at the forefront of the entire deal.
No fans. Rigorous testing of COVID-19; done periodically. Sanitisation every now and then. Isolated paddocks. Each team and group working in their own bubbles--no mingling allowed. No hugs. Social distancing at its peak...and...and...well you get the idea!
Despite all the necessary measures that the community had to take and the obvious struggles they had to face to make this possible; for the first time in the longest stretch, I felt alive again. The venture that they embarked on, reminded me that--it was time to shake off the hopelessness in my heart and have some fun. It was time to embrace this new normal, and instead of gloating about all the stuff we can't do or change; it was time to stay within limits and roll with the opportunities at hand.
And so we did.
And to top the excitement of it all...man was the race damn interesting!! Packed with action. Keeping me on the edge of my seat at all times!!!! Phew! Couldn't have asked for better entertainment. |
And man was it fun!! All through those three days, my spirits had been soaring at the topmost levels. I cheered; I laughed; I cursed; I felt all the emotions of race week--but to a whole new level. Such was the level of my excitement; that by Sunday evening I was drained of all energy. But I was happy.
And radiating with the joy and satisfaction of this new adventure...I had the best sleep I ever had throughout this lockdown! I was knocked out, but I felt content and I can't wait for the day when everyone will realise that the best they can do to survive this nemesis is adapt to it...and go on with life!
Until then, I sit with bated breath for next week's race. Vamos! Vamos! Vamos! Let's go!!!!
Vamos Vamos Vamos :)
